You are getting sleepy… Sleeepy…. Sleeepy… No, you’re not. How can you fall asleep if a Bvlgari pendant is moving just in front of your eyes? I was fortunate enough to be exposed to this brand ever since childhood. This has allowed to me to claim my share of Bvlgari jewellery from my mum when I hit 16.

Just like Tiffany’s, Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier et al, Bvlgari is a brand to covet, lust over, dream about and save up for. It has been worn by too many celebrities and presidents’ wives to list in one blog piece. I believe former first lady of France, Carla Bruni, is now the face of the brand.

However, when it comes to the brand, there is one thing that I’d like to make clear. Everyone who is trying to break their tongues pronouncing “bvlgari” can stop right now – and I know these people exist, I was offered to experience “b-ff-lgari’s” latest scent in a perfume shop. So stop, just stop. The “V” is a “U” in accordance to the classic Latin alphabet and should be read as that. While I am explaining stuff, here’s another fact to be aware of: Bvlgari is an Italian brand and it means “Bulgarians” or people of “Bulgarian decent”.

The brand has expanded massively; it’s not only jewellery it excels in anymore. These days it’s also wristwatches, hotels, perfume and other luxury goods.

A word of caution though, Bvlgari is up there with Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Rolex; the brand is a victim of counterfeiters world wide. How to avoid fakes? If the offer is too good to be true and the seller pronouces it as “b-ff-lgari”, just say no.
