Words like venom through our veins they run
Weaving a web of deception hope is gone
Shall we re-live the pain of wars before?
Or shall we be the light, the new folklore?

Orphaned Land – All is one

If a band was a description of this outfit, it would be Orphaned Land. Their lyrics are incredible, and since this is a very festival-like outfit, a strong musical reference had to be made. I also felt the need to make a Middle Eastern reference due to the style of my headpiece – Orphaned Land is an Israeli band, so that box is ticked. And finally, because their music is progressive metal, my bag and creepers are also covered.

The fusion of arabesque tones and metal gear is the style I personally feel most myself in, it describes my personality perfectly. Studs and skulls mixed with ankhs and Bedouin handmade creations – this is what I am all about to everyone’s surprise. Shocked faces are the typical response I get when I disclose my musical preferences. People seem to think that I listen to classical music (which I do – don’t get me wrong, Edvard Grieg is an absolute favourite), but at heart it has always been heavy rock and metal for me.

Since I am talking so much about music, you probably are guessing how connected to the festival theme this look is, and considering that Glastonbury’s next week, I thought I’d come up with one last festival inspired look just to keep the momentum going. If you want some more outfit ideas, have a look at New Look’s festival fashion timeline – it shows how our styles have changed through time. It’s amazing to see how many trends we all created, followed and moved on from within a relatively small time frame. And I wonder what the next trend, or to use Orphaned Land’s beautiful terminology, “the new folklore“, is going to be like.
